Homegrown 2012

I know i said i'd continue, but i'll do that some other time, i have other exciting shit to share.. Legooooo

On Saturday just gone, Feb 18 I went to Homegrown on the Wellington waterfront, this being one of those interesting things that happen every now and then. I purely only wanted to go for two bands inpeticular but only ended up seeing one of those two bands, which i was satisfied with because it was the most amazing thing ever, a band i had been wanting to see for over a year or so and i finally got too so i was over the moon to see SIX60 probably one of the biggest Kiwi Bands right now, they're definately a great band on cd and even better live. The whole experience was amazing, the whole homesgrown feeling was mean not to mention the ability to buy alcohol was pretty cool too, but the price of it... not so much.

I
went with my three friends on your left, from left to right Amber, Alicia and Krystal and then theres me, we had about an hour to kill before the actually bands started playing so we thought we'd be cute and take a group photo at Te Papa, there was a scottish dude taking photos of the view so i asked him to take the photo for us, he was so nice! I had only been up there once before with my nephew Kahu (who is only a year younger than me) but it was half raining that time, so this was just cool being up there in the sun.

B
efore this we went and got a feed, me, Krys and Wece (Alicia) got kebabs which were pretty disapointing i must say, not enough cheese i swear!!!!!! Ambs got some kinda fried rice from the vegetarian menu from someother takeaway part, which was literally like a neon yellow colour, we thought twice about eating what we got but by then we were pretty hungry so ate it anyway, we're still alive today so i guess it was okay.

So after taking photos at Te Papa, we went for a walk back to the open stage or whatever, it was like open to the public or people who weren't actually going to Homegrown! and watch all the b boyz bustamove! it was pretty terrible but then again i wasn't really watching i was more interested on the scenery to take photos of.

We then thought we'd go to an actual stage.

So we came here ^ to find about four people watching the show and about 11 people getting pre pissed at the back, it was Nick D and Yelwala sound system, then they started getting really into it and more people showed up, they were sooooo good and got everyone watching up and into the dancing mode. The event was rated 15 so everyone under 18 had yellow wrist bands, and everyone older had red ones, there were a few minors you could definately tell got 'on it' before this, and the fact that it was only one oclock was pretty sad, but i guess they helped everyone get into the mad dj-ing and bongo beats!

And finally time for what i have been waiting for, the reason i brought a $95 ticket, to see my favourite band Six60, about an hour before they came on, like about 3pm Sola Rosa or something was on, not many peopel were up, me and my friends were sitting down having some more food down the back of the tent thing the performance was in, infact pretty much EVERYONE was sitting down eating or drinking, don't get me wrong there were people dancing along at the front of the venue but the majority people in the DUB ROOTS TENT were sitting down. Then everyone started moving up to the front, so we thought we'd do the same, before i knew it i stepped up on my tip toes and looked back and the whole tent was packed with STANDING people, the whole tent i'm not even over exaggerating!

Told you i wasn't over exaggerating ^^^
The next day i was checking my facebook when i noticed this photo above, from the six60 facebook page, titled something along the lines of "Shot homegrown you just made the video for 'forever' fuck yeah" I was instantly buzzin and so excited! i mean its not everyday you can say "i'm in a music video" not to mention "i'm in my fav bands music video" definately a highlight of my life. :)
